Backend Engineer Position

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust server-side applications that power our platform. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Position Details

  • Position: Senior Backend Engineer
  • Department: Engineering
  • Location: Cape Town, WC (Hybrid)
  • Experience Level: Mid-Senior (3-7 years)
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Salary Range: R360,000 - R480,000/year

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
  • Optimize database queries and ensure efficient data management
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements
  • Implement security and data protection measures
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in backend development
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Python, or Java
  • Strong understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
